This classic race is a proper test of off-road running with 90% of the course on the undulating paths and trails of the South Downs. During the rich history of the race, course features have gained legendary status: The Snake, The Big W, The Yellow Brick Road and Death Valley. All give a clue to the challenge that Tuff20 presents. Get your season off to a flying start with the perfect sharpener for runners planning a spring marathon and enjoy the race just because….. This race is not for the faint-hearted.

The Course
With race features like Death Valley, The Snake and The Big W, you would think Tuff20 takes place in the Wild West rather than the gentle hills of the South Downs National Park. However, as anyone who has completed the race will testify, the hills are not as easy as they look.
Myth & Legend
Tuff20 (The Jog Shop 20) has its origins back in the 1970's, when local running legends Sam Lambourne, Steve Fortune and Alex Ace Angeli realised that track workouts wouldn't be enough to get them through the rigours of a full marathon.

Starting and finishing at Brighton Marina, the grueling race takes you along the coastal path and then across the South Downs. You can discover the full race route by clicking below for a detailed map of the course.
About
2020 will see the 28th incarnation of the Jog Shop Jog which, for all of those years has been at the heart of the South Coast running community. We renamed the run Tuff20 in 2019 as it seems to fit the general view of the race from the many people who have enjoyed the course.
What People Say
ERIC, 2018
A fantastic, well organised trail run - with friendly and encouraging marshals. Will be back next year.
ANDREW, 2018
Every bit as tough as it says, really well marshaled and signed, even though it's pretty much totally off road and in the countryside.
TOM, 2012
Fantastic race that attracts a really nice group of runners. The course is the most challenging I've done and will push even experienced trail runners but the views are breathtaking and overall I highly recommend it.
